Yoga is an incredible gift that I love to share. I have found a renewed sense of self through practicing, studying, and teaching yoga. More than ever, I feel connected with my true self, comfortable and confident in my own skin, and empowered to help others experience the many benefits of the practice.
I teach a hatha-vinyasa style yoga with a steady flow focusing on movement with breath with pauses to build mind-body strength and openness. The practice incorporates ancient yogic, breathing, meditation, and visualization techniques to help steady your mind, deepen your focus, and release stress. Each session is tailored to my students' needs and abilities, while offering variety from one session to the next. You will leave feeling challenged yet rejuvenated.
I have taught more than 6,000 hours of yoga to hundreds of students of all ages, levels of experience, and walks of life, including high school teachers and students, dancers and athletes, and pregnant women. I love teaching virtually via Zoom, in a studio, outdoor park, workplace conference room, or home basement to individuals and groups both large and small. Connecting with my students and helping them connect more deeply with themselves is what it's all about.
Being diagnosed with unexplained infertility and undergoing a challenging five-year journey to pregnancy, I turned to yoga to help ease stress and improve my physical and mental health. Once I became pregnant, I continued to teach and practice until the day before I went into labor; I am now blessed with a healthy and happy daughter. Practicing and studying yoga through each stage of my journey to pregnancy gave me intimate knowledge and understanding of how to use yoga to best strengthen, support, and nurture the body and mind at such a critical time. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with women to help them prepare for and achieve a healthy pregnancy and recover from pregnancy and childbirth with strength and confidence. I have developed and led a 10-hour prenatal yoga teacher training program to more widely share my teaching techniques. Pregnancy and beyond does not have to mean extreme discomfort, waddling like a duck, back pain, and peeing your pants!
When my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in her late 60's, I started to learn and practice brain longevity yoga techniques to help prevent or stave off the horrible disease. While there is currently no treatment, the encouraging thing is there are lifestyle choices you can make, like practicing yoga and meditation, that are proven to effectively delay or prevent dementia.
Through practicing and studying yoga daily, I've learned how to trust my intuition, listen to my body, and relax by being self-aware and letting go of anxiety, fear, and expectations (others' and my own). Through this practice comes a sense of freedom, and with dedication and positivity you can be your best self everyday!
I'm a Washington, DC native living in Atlantic Beach, FL with a 200-hour Teacher Training from Yoga Del Sol (Washington, DC), Brain Longevity Yoga Therapist certification from the Alzheimer's Research & Prevention Foundation, a BA in Communication from the University of Maryland, and a MA in Health Communication from Johns Hopkins University. I'm also a Health Communication Specialist supporting public health efforts nationwide. My daughters continue to teach me more than I ever thought possible. Thank you my loves!
